Windmills, and a tool you will burn

The resource list files Rotor under Upgrade. There is no Fandom article, and the weight cell is empty. The location comes from a Steam thread opened 11 Dec 2025, “How can I attain rotors?”, where several players describe the same method: find a windmill, which they call the scouting point in a farm biome, and spend one power tool to pull a rotor off it. They also say you cannot synthesize the part. One reply advises collecting three rotors and carrying spare tools. It does not establish a guaranteed yield per windmill. This thread dates from the 1.0 release month.

The practical consequence is the Power Tool Fabricator, or whatever bench is currently making power tools in your version. Players in that thread suggest building a stack of tools, ten or more, before a long farm-biome cruise. I will not turn “ten” into a requirement. It is pack advice from the same thread.

The hole in the middle of the item

I can tell you how to obtain a rotor. I cannot tell you which building eats it. “Upgrade material” is the category, and the category is not a shopping list. If a quest marker asks for rotors and your inventory already has them, you are further along than this page can guide. If you are staring at a fabricator wondering which machine wants the stack, the public sources stop. Disappearing rotors also show up as a bug-board title after 1.0. That title is on the troubleshooting page. I do not treat a missing rotor in a chest as proof you salvaged wrong.
