Privacy Policy
This site loads Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity session replay and Adsterra ads by default. Reject in the banner turns them off and is remembered for 180 days. The trailer only contacts YouTube after you press play.
Who runs this site
flotsam.pro is a fan guide to Flotsam, published by the person who writes it. Privacy requests and corrections go to [email protected]. We answer access, correction, deletion and export requests from that address. The site is not aimed at children, and we do not sell personal information.
Default loading and how to say no
This site uses a default-on model. If your browser has no stored choice, the page loads Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra as soon as it renders, and the cookie banner appears at the same time to tell you so. We do not wait for an Accept click before loading them.
The banner has Accept and Reject. Reject is a real off switch: the page removes the Clarity and Adsterra scripts it created, clears the ad containers, sends Clarity and Google a denied consent update, and stores the decision for 180 days. It then reloads the page to terminate already running vendor code; the new page makes no analytics, replay or advertising requests. Accept stores the opposite value. Cookie settings in the footer reopens the banner without erasing your choice; accepting after rejection reloads the integrations.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control (GPC), the site records Reject automatically and does not wait for a click. Do Not Track is not read as a separate signal; GPC is the signal this site implements.
Cookies and localStorage
First-party keys are the ones this site writes. Vendor keys below are documented examples and may vary by region, browser and vendor updates; they are not a claim that every cookie is present on every visit. Retention is the default lifetime rather than a guarantee; clearing site data removes the first-party keys immediately.
| Key | Set by | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| flotsam_consent (localStorage) | flotsam.pro | Stores granted or denied and an expiry timestamp | 180 days |
| flotsam_ad_float_closed (localStorage) | flotsam.pro | Remembers that the floating Adsterra bar was closed | 180 days |
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes browsers for aggregate reports | 2 years |
| _ga_HLV5MR7J69 | Google Analytics 4 | Keeps GA4 session state for this property | 2 years |
| _clck | Microsoft Clarity | Stores the Clarity user id and preference | 1 year |
| _clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Joins page views into one Clarity session recording | 1 day |
| CLID | Microsoft Clarity | Identifies a returning Clarity visitor | 1 year |
| MUID | Microsoft | Microsoft-wide user id used by Clarity | 1 year |
| YSC | YouTube (only after Play) | Keeps the video player session | Session |
| VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE | YouTube (only after Play) | Measures bandwidth and player layout | 180 days |
| PREF | YouTube (only after Play) | Stores player preferences such as volume | 8 months |
| CONSENT | YouTube (only after Play) | Remembers Google consent choices | 2 years |
The third parties this page actually loads
Google Analytics 4 (Measurement ID G-HLV5MR7J69) loads from googletagmanager.com and reports to google-analytics.com. It counts page views, referrers and approximate location. Google may process the data outside your country under its own safeguards. Google’s privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out of personalized Google ads at https://adssettings.google.com.
Microsoft Clarity (project z9tb566cm6) loads from clarity.ms. It records session replays, heatmaps and click paths. Its default Balanced masking hides sensitive text such as numbers and email addresses; ordinary page text can remain visible. Input boxes and dropdowns are masked in every mode. Microsoft’s privacy statement is at https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
Adsterra (publisher 3403020; Native Banner unit 32138321 and Social Bar unit 32138322) loads from bicea.org and from creative hosts that Adsterra rotates. The Native Banner sits in the page flow above the footer; the Social Bar is the fixed bar pinned to the bottom-right corner, with a local close button. Adsterra and its demand partners may set cookies or equivalent identifiers on bicea.org and on creative domains to cap frequency, measure conversions and choose ads; those names and lifetimes are chosen by Adsterra, not written by this site. The campaign context is carried in the script URL, not in a first-party cookie. Adsterra’s privacy policy and opt-out route are at https://adsterra.com/privacy-policy/. For interest-based advertising generally, use https://optout.aboutads.info/ (US) or https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/ (EU/UK). Adult ads are switched off for this site.
YouTube is not loaded on page view. The trailer is a local still image; pressing Play creates a youtube.com embed (video h1AsVmKGCqo, Pajama Llama Games). From that moment Google may set the YouTube keys listed above and receive your IP address and player events. If you never press Play, no YouTube request is made.
There is no other analytics, tag manager, heatmap, push-notification SDK, traffic-mesh banner script or affiliate tracker on the site. The fonts are local system fonts, so no font CDN request is made.
Privacy choices, retention and your rights
The default loading described above is a technical site setting, not an affirmative consent action by you. Reject withdraws permission for further analytics, recording and advertising requests and is recorded for 180 days. The same controls are offered in every region. Aggregate server logs are kept only as long as needed to keep the site online and secure.
You can ask for a copy of the choice stored in your browser, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to processing by writing to [email protected]. Because the first-party record lives in your browser, clearing site data also removes it; the banner will then appear again on the next visit. You can also block the scripts with a content blocker or browser setting without losing access to the guide.
Changes to this policy
This page is versioned by the date under the title. If a vendor, key or retention period changes, the page changes in the same release as the code. We do not add a third party quietly and describe it later. The current version covers GA4, Clarity, Adsterra and the click-to-load YouTube player only.
Questions
Do you use cookies?
Yes. GA4, Clarity and Adsterra load by default and may set the cookies named above. flotsam_consent and flotsam_ad_float_closed are the only first-party keys this site writes.
How do I turn ads and recording off?
Press Reject in the banner or open Cookie settings in the footer. The page removes the Clarity and Adsterra scripts, clears the ad containers and sends Google a consent update. The choice lasts 180 days.
Does the trailer track me before I click?
No. The still image is hosted here. A YouTube iframe is created only when you press Play.
