Flotsam Power Guide

Energy is measured in Eels. Manual makes 30, firewood 100, oil 200, solar 15. A battery stores 2,500. The Electrician converts firewood buildings, and one firewood of power cooks far more than a wood grill.

Four generators and a battery

The wiki and the derivative building codex give these headline outputs (one source family): Manual Generator 30 Eels, Firewood Generator 100, Oil Generator 200, Solar Panel 15, Battery storage 2,500. Power Poles join the grid. A survival guide adds a worked example: one firewood in a wood generator is about 2,880 Eels (two minutes at 24 Eels a second), and an electric grill then cooks 12 grilled nibblers where a wood grill cooks 1. I mark 2,880 as a player measurement. The 12-versus-1 comparison is in that same guide and is repeated by the same author in the specialists write-up, so it remains one independent source family.

A Korean guide gives the oil generator a different figure, 56 energy, against the wiki’s 200 Eels. I will not average 56 and 200. Both numbers stay in the table with their sources. The Chemist’s oil chain, an Oil Refinery fed by plastic scrap, is how you fill the oil generator. That is a different job from the Electrician’s conversion of existing workshops.

What the Electrician changes

With that specialist in town you can upgrade the Desalinator, Scrapsmith, Grill and Bio-Boiler to electric versions. Electric buildings also dent the beauty score less than smoking ones. Per-building wattage is not published, so I cannot tell you how many solar panels a large town needs. The achievement Tour de Mer asks you to reach 150 Eels per second using only the Manual Generator. Eel-ectronics, the crafted part behind batteries and engines, has its own resource page.

Questions

What is an Eel?

The energy unit. It is not the fish. Batteries, generators and solar panels are all quoted in Eels.

Which generator should I build first?

Manual, because the opening town can afford it. Firewood is next. Oil and solar wait on parts and on the Chemist or on panels.
